Heroic Response by Our Students Saves Life
22.06.2026 20:14
On Sunday, June 21, Janek Tomczyk and Eliza Kopera from Class 1m saved the life of a man who was drowning in Barbara Pond in Katowice.
The man was submerged and already at the bottom of the water. Janek and Eliza jumped into the pond, pulled the victim out, and immediately began resuscitation efforts on their own while waiting for the Air Rescue Service (LPR) helicopter to arrive. They also maintained contact with the 112 emergency dispatcher throughout the incident.
Thanks to their quick response and actions, the man survived. The doctor who arrived at the scene confirmed the restoration of vital functions.
This heroic act deserves great admiration. We are proud that students of our school do not remain indifferent when another human being needs help. Kindness and empathy are values of immeasurable importance.
We also extend our congratulations to the parents for raising children who are so sensitive and ready to help others.
Children’s Day at Our School!
22.06.2026 20:09
Although the weather disrupted our plans and forced us to postpone the celebrations, we were finally able to organize Children’s Day on June 19.
During breaks, students could enjoy the offer of a food truck serving delicious ice cream and crispy waffles thanks to the courtesy of Fabian Ice Cream and Pastry Shop. The treats were very popular and made the shared time even more enjoyable.
During lessons, the Student Council prepared a special game in which participants visited different task stations. Among the attractions were activities such as “What’s That Tune?”, “Matura to Bzdura”, “Advertising”, “Teachers’ Quotes”, as well as various sports games. There was no shortage of fun, healthy competition, and many smiles.
We are happy that we could spend this day together in such a joyful atmosphere. We would like to thank all students for their involvement and participation in the prepared activities. We hope this day brightened your final days of the school year!
The World of Plants in Glass
22.06.2026 20:04
On June 17, students of Class 2e visited the Institute of Biology, Biotechnology, and Environmental Protection at the University of Silesia in Katowice. During their visit, they took part in workshops dedicated to the fascinating world of plants grown in glass, namely in vitro cultures.
During the classes, the high school students carried out the micropropagation of the African violet — a method that allows for the production of many plantlets from a small fragment of a leaf. They also learned how to work under sterile conditions, how nutrient media for plant growth are prepared, and what role in vitro cultures play in biotechnology.
The program also included a tour of greenhouses and laboratories, as well as an introduction to the institute’s educational offer.
The visit was an inspiring encounter with science, showing that plant biology is not only textbook theory, but also fascinating experiments, precise laboratory work, and modern research methods.
