On 1 September 2026, we officially welcomed the new 2026/2027 school year! After the summer break, our school once again filled with students, teachers, conversations, smiles and plenty of energy for the months of learning and working together ahead.
This year’s opening ceremony was held in two sessions. The first brought together students from the second, third and fourth years. Our Principal, Joanna Wojtynek, welcomed everyone and wished the school community a successful and rewarding year, with special words of encouragement for our final-year students, for whom the coming months will be a particularly important and memorable time.
The school leadership also warmly welcomed the new teachers joining the “Kruczek” community this year. We are delighted to have them with us and wish them a wonderful start to their journey at our school!
As every year, the beginning of the school year was also an opportunity to remember the history of our school and the people who helped shape it. As part of this tradition, a school delegation visited the grave of Franciszek Teper, the first principal of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Tychy, paying tribute to a person whose name remains an important part of our school’s history.
A symbolic act of remembrance also took place at school. A delegation consisting of Vice-Principal Magdalena Goraus and our students laid a wreath beneath the memorial plaque dedicated to Principal Teper, a soldier and participant in the September Campaign of 1939. This important school tradition reminds younger generations of our history, the sacrifices made by others and the lives of those connected with our school and our country.
One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was a speech by Sabina Kuczera-Lisiecka, who gave our students an important lesson in history and reflection. She reminded us that our peers in 1939 were unable to begin the school year as we are today. Their everyday lives were suddenly disrupted by events that would forever change the history of Europe and the world.
Her words also offered an important message for the present day. History teaches us the importance of respect, kindness and recognising the value of every human being. We should never judge, divide or deny anyone their dignity because of their background, beliefs, appearance or any other differences. Every person matters. History has repeatedly shown us where the division of people into those considered “better” and “worse” can lead, particularly when people are denied their dignity and basic right to respect.
At 11:30 a.m., a particularly special moment arrived for the newest members of our school community. For the first time, our freshers walked through the doors of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Leona Kruczkowskiego in Tychy.
For them, the opening of the school year was especially significant. They are embarking on a new chapter filled with their first lessons, new friendships, new challenges and countless opportunities to discover their interests and talents. We hope that the years ahead will be a time of learning, developing passions, discovering their potential and making lifelong friendships.
Jagna Wójcik, Chair of the Student Council, welcomed all the students and the entire teaching staff with plenty of energy, warmth and a great sense of humour. Her speech was a wonderful reminder that students are an important and active part of our school community and play a vital role in shaping school life.
The ceremony was also enriched by performances from the Kruczek Artistic and Theatre Groups, whose talent and enthusiasm created a special atmosphere and added an artistic touch to the celebration.
The ceremony concluded with the official opening of the new school year. The school leadership announced:
“I hereby declare the 2026/2027 school year officially open!”
We now have many months ahead filled with learning, new challenges, projects, trips, meetings, competitions and shared experiences.
We wish all our Students, Teachers, Parents and Staff a successful, peaceful and rewarding 2026/2027 school year! May it be a time of discovering new passions, gaining knowledge, exploring your potential and creating wonderful memories. And may it also be a year of mutual respect, kindness, courage and openness towards others.
