      • “Green Arbour on the Danube” – Class 3d3 in Budapest

      • 08.06.2026 17:37

      • From June 1 to June 3, Class 3d3, under the supervision of Ms. Natalia Nowak and Ms. Dorota Gajewska, visited Budapest.
On the first day, students explored the older part of the Hungarian capital – Buda – including the Royal Castle, Matthias Church, and Fisherman’s Bastion, which offers a stunning view of the Danube, its bridges, and Pest on the opposite bank. Our guide, Ms. Blanka, introduced us to the history of Buda and Pest, which merged into one city in 1873.
On the second day, we toured Pest. Apart from the Parliament, the greatest impression was made by the city’s green areas, namely City Park and Margaret Island. This is why Budapest is sometimes referred to as the “green arbour on the Danube.” In City Park, we stopped in front of the eclectic Vajdahunyad Castle from the late 19th century, where Ms. Blanka gave us a short lesson in the difficult Hungarian language. Meanwhile, on Margaret Island, our tour guide, Mr. Bartek, organized outdoor activities for us, including solving a mystery puzzle.
The highlight of the day was an evening cruise on the Danube River, during which we once again admired the monumental buildings of Budapest, including the Royal Castle, the Parliament, and St. Stephen’s Basilica.
On the third day, our itinerary included two more destinations: the charming town of Szentendre and Esztergom, the first capital of Hungary, where Saint Stephen—the first King of Hungary—was crowned in the year 1000.
